Hi,

I have the 5600 and have the original sharp rom w/ Qtopia 1.5.4

I have successfully installed applications via the add/remove GUI like Terminal, ZIC and KP/PI.  Both from Feed and SD

Problem: For some reason all of a sudden I try and install another IPK like keypebble or qrdesktop (any other IPKs) through the GUI and it comes up with "the file name of this package includes character this applicationn can't handle. Please change the filename and rety install" I've did some searching on the net but couldnt find anything to help.

This error is happening to every IPK i try and install. When I try using command line this is what I get.

Input:
Change dir to my SD card where ipk is stored.
ipkg install rtdesktop_arm.ipk
Error:
Mkdir: cannot create directory "//home/tmp/ipkg/qtrdesktop": permission denyed.

Is there something I need to chmod, did I miss a step?

Any help would be great.

Thanks guys.

Thanks! that worked great.

Resolution:
chomd 755 /home/tmp/ipkg/
chown root /home/tmp/ipkg/

had to reset the Zaurus but after that, the applications install.

Thanks alot for your help. Any idea why the permissions would have changed?

dont know what would cause the permissions to change, proably a poorly packaged ipk messed things up...

Also, since you are running the 5600 as well I suggest giving the Watapon ROM a try, as its the only sharp rom for the 5600 that is being activly maintained... http://zaurus.duelmonsters.ca/
