Usb Hub As An Ac Adaptor Replacement

I have recently bought a minisync usb adaptor for my SL-5500, and now have lost interest in replacing my broken AC adaptor. So far I understand that USB hubs are supposed to limit output to 500mA to each device plugged in, which is inferior to an AC adaptor. I have also come to understand that some usb hubs are not so strict. So these are my questions.

1. Does the SL-5500 try to pull more than 500mA from the usb hub if it needs it?

2. Exactly what model of usb hubs can I expect to supply the amount of power needed by the Zaurus and any other similar devices I might buy in the future? (I am looking at a JAHT 4 port usb hub that comes with an AC adaptor, and has a detachable USB cable which makes it more neat looking when used as nothing but a power supply)

3. This I care about less, but I bet that others would like to know, are there any good car cigarette lighter adaptors that would give the usb hub the power it needs (5v, not 4.5v) for people with multiple devices and a hard time powering them on the go?

Can't answer your first question cause I got a C3000 which does not pull power from usb hub
But I am using the Blue-Eye 4 port powered hub which has a total of 2A and it does provide 500mA to 1A to devices depending on how much they need.  I believe the 5500 has a USB power cable which you can plug into the USB hub to charge.

I was almost wondering if my posts were visible   I got the hub and am very happy with it. The only way I could use my SL-5500 on usb power was by taking the battery cover off and pressing the reset button, so that when it turned back on it wouldn't be charging. Now that I am plugged in through a powered usb hub, I just power it up a few minutes before I need to use it and it has already charged itself up and the light is off.

I'm glad I got this instead of a new AC adaptor. I can take it anywhere and use it like a normal (but odd looking) AC adaptor, but if I want to plug in to a computer for networking, I can always plug any device that had to be unplugged to make room for my zaurus right back in to my hub. Also if I pick up any other device that can use usb for power, they all can use the same power source.

I guess it will probably max out with only 2 devices pulling out 1A, but most shouldn't be using as much as possible except when charging.

For line power source replacements, Radio Shack makes a regulated power supply for digital cameras that can be set to output 5V.  This works for all Zauri with their "B" tip.  
Boxwave sells a widget that plugs into 12V automotive socket and provides a powered 5V USB port for charging with a minisync cable.  Just don't have the Zaurus plugged in when you start the car.  I hope this helps.
