Playing Movies?
« on: May 29, 2005, 10:38:32 pm »
I tried putting several movies on my C3000 and then I noticed a few problems:

1) The movie player doesn't recognize .AVI or .ASX files

2) It doesn't play .WMV files effectively

3) In many of the .MPG files I put on, it would give me a popup window in the player that said "??? 1M" and if I clicked no, it wouldn't play, and if I clicked yes, it played an average of a minute of the movie and then stopped.

4) In some of the movies there is a squealing noise every 2 or 3 seconds, which sounds like a tape set at extremely high speed, yet the sound is still playing at normal speed.

I'd like to be able to fix these problems because I'd like to have several movies available to me when I fly overseas this summer. Also, many of the movies I have are in DivX format...I don't know if the player even has the codecs for that.

I am assuming it is not the new ROM because it did this in the old ROM as well. I am also assuming it is not the movie player's fault. I always figure that *I* am doing something wrong, so...is there a setting I am not making right? Are the movies not in the right format? Or, is there a simple fix for this?

Other than a few short flicks, most of my movies are AVI (DivX) format so what can I do?

The movie player on the C3000 isn't capable of playing anything other than specially formatted movies. It's generally impractical to convert a collection of DivX formatted movies anyway.

A good place to start is http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/ for getting everything you need on your Zaurus.

Still having problems...

I tried downloading all the files that I needed for Kino2, and to get mplayer working...however, I could not find all of them from one source...does that make a difference?

Anyway, when I loaded Kino2, and then tried to load a video, it said "Please Wait" and I kept waiting....and waiting....and waiting.....and waiting...and....well, you get my drift.

So...any new suggestions?

Try Mplayer+Zplayer.
It's better than kino2.
Kino2 has too many problems with c3000.

Mplayer

Zplayer

This means you have installed a version of kino2 without mplayer in it. You get the message "please wait" for ever cause kino2 is waiting for mplayer to tell it what size and bitrate etc the file is, and cause mplayer aint there it waits and waits and waits.

Grab mpalyer from the links above
