Zug Newsgroup

I remember reading a post awhile ago about someone who was, em, shall we say concerned about the effects of fragmentation that is caused as we get more methods of zaurus problem solving. I was unaware of the chatroom, and now with the addition of the mailing lists I do feel that the person had a valid point.

I have a suggestion which may not be feasable with current software, but i shall throw it out here nevertheless as it has the possiblity of allowing several methods to distribute the discussion yet keeping it centralised.

I think that there should be a Zaurus newgroup server created. This would allow for easy updates on your Zaurus, plus you also have the option of keeping the forum with you in a few megabytes (able to reference and research offline!).

People could still get a daily digest of the newsgroup articles emailed to them if they wished.

I hope that you can get the picture of what i'm talking about. I would really like to see a news server backend to this board... That way we can keep all this really useful information together, and also with the option to keep a easily updateable copy with you all the time!
Gorgeous C860, 256 Sandisk SD, 1Gig Pretec 40x CF, PDAIR leather case & the really cool retractable iPDA USB sync/charge cable. Powered by PDAXROM BETA 1.

My wish - to have a Command & Conquer style game on my Z! (FREECNC!!!) Simcity 2000 would also be great.

Not entirely crazy...  Adobe, Citrix & IIRC, even Trolltech, do this with their support forums -- they are gateway'd from their web pages to a NNTP server.

Where are these mailing lists you are talking about.  I could not find them.  Thanks for the pointer.

I totally agree that this is a good idea.  How about using the gateway http://gmane.org ?  Their service is just wonderful.

There is a ready-made solution for phpbb at http://m2f.sourceforge.net/.  It might speed up implementation and lower the work load.
