So Palmsource is going full blast with porting Palm OS on Linux

But the Graph (pie chart) on that page shows Linux to be the 2nd most used OS on Smartphones (at 13.7 percent). How come ?
New no more-C1000 / 5000D (sold my 6000 and 750) | Cacko ROM 1.23 on C1000 | 256 MB CF | 2GB PNY SD card | Socket Networker WiFi CF Card | USB Host cable from StreamlineCPUS | Mini Microphone (for voice recording) |

If you mean, 'Why is it out selling Windows Mobile and Palm OS?', the answer is China. They love open source and free software.

If you mean, 'Why is it being crushed by Symbian?', the answer is that virtually all handsets sold in America and Europe are now smart phones, and Symbian runs on those.

No I mean, how come Linux on smartphones has that HIGH a share (greater than Windows mobile) whereas we dont see Linux smartphones (or PDA) as much.

Usually, you see a smartphone (rarely outside of China) but not the Linux inside while you would immediately see the Win.

Its all about Branding. MS will have their WindowsMobile logo slapped on these devices before they see daylight. I don't recall Zaurii having PoweredbyLinux on its case.
