I Keep Losing My Panel In Xfce
« on: September 08, 2005, 03:53:17 pm »
I'm running XFCE 4.2.2 on my C1K with pdaXrom. What I am noticing is that every so often my panel disappears and I am unable to get it back. The taskbar remains accessible, but I cannot right click to get any menus or get to a command prompt. To correct this, I reboot and delete the .config and .cache directories before launching XFCE again.

Anybody else having trouble with this?

Bill

I notice the same problem using debian-testing Xfce4 on X/qt.

Have you tried xfce4-panel in the terminal.  Gets it back for me.  Good luck

It looks like your xfdesktop4 gets killed somehow, and not just the panel.
I had this problem when compiling xfce, after a fresh install it was solved.

Now I don't have such troubles any longer.
In the beginning, when it was less stable on my Z, I saved a session with an aterm running. That way I always had access to a command line.

BTW : do you have any messages when leaving - killing xfce ?

Adding some plugins kills the panel, typing "xfce4-panel &" in an aterm brings it back.
