Bochs - Please Hlp Meanie Or Chyang

Hi,

I have a c1000 & downloaded bochs that Chyang posted on this forum, followed his instructions - even edited the library binary to replace "c3000" with "c1000".  

I'm getting the following error:

"Unable to initialize SDL libraries".  

I also get: "SISharedManager: can't get proc entry".

I started with Bochs on my cf card - then moved it to internal flash.  No difference.

For some time I have been using bochs I installed for Debian with apt-get.  It uses the x server.  No problems except that, with dos installed, it only displays text not graphics so games or windows won't work even though dos text mode apps (eg, turbo c++) will.  I think there is a bug in Bochs itself - it's been very very frustrating  

So I want to try Chyang's version using SDL to run windows 3.1.  Any help with the error would be much appreciated.

NB Meanie, have you bought an OQO yet?  I am in Australia as well and am very tempted.  You can get a good deal at the moment from Dynamism (I wouldn't bother with Expansys).

Ok.  It works now.  I just had to uninstall a previous (presumably old) SDL library.

Still haven't gotten my OQO yet  I am fed up with expansys and various other online retailers in Australia. Seems like online retailers in Australia sux. Haven't found any of them that are any good yet. Btw, mittoni major sux too. I wouldn't buy from them again. Anyway, I am now trying to get agile to get me the OQO through salary sacrifice.

Go to www.dynamism.com  I bought a Sony U from them - you get a warranty and great service.  You can get an OQO+ with free spare battery and charger.  I salary sacrificed the U - just gave a receipt to my employer.  In $A the OQO will end up costing you about $3,400 (including import GST).  Much better than expansys $4k++.

salary sacrifice is a method of purchasing a laptop using your pre taxed money so it gets deducted from your salary before tax so in essence so you only need to pay half of the laptop (assuming you are at the 49% tax bracket) as compared to when you buy it from a shop with your money (which has already been taxed). also salary sacrifice is paid in monthly installments taken directly from your pay so in essense you are also getting an interest free loan to pay for your laptop.
