Trouble running certain programs

I\'m having problems running certain programs (Petittrack and Sky Explorer). I have a 5500 upgraded to the 5600 rom.

When I tap on the program icon it just sits there. I got Petitrack to run the first time but it stopped after I put some coordinates in the settings. I have to kill it with WhatsuponZ. Sky explorer does the same but it shows not to be running after it fails to starts up. How do I run programs from terminal? Will it show any errors when I do?

Also, I was looking around the file system and found some old files from programs I don\'t have anymore. I opened them as text and they looked like settings for just one program(file was program name). Can\'t remember what directory they were in.  I can delete these right?

How do I run programs from terminal?

Go to /opt/QtPalmtop/apps/applications (the last part may be different - depends which tab the app in question is in) and look in the .desktop file for the app which is causing troubles (it\'s a text file). See what it says after Exec.

Then cd to /opt/QtPalmtop/bin and try running the command which came after Exec (if it had said \'Exec myprog\' run \'./myprog\' as it\'s probably not in the PATH).

Then see what it says.

Will it show any errors when I do?

Yep.

I can delete these right?

Probably, but don\'t blame me if everything goes wrong. Probably best if you tell us where they were and what apps so we can be sure.

If you can\'t get petit track to start working, I will try to help.  I used to use it all the time until I took my radio station apart and haven\'t put it back together.  6 meters was getting into the tv and bugging my wife.  I had to move the antennas and radios to another room and haven\'t got everything back together yet.  I used to do quite a bit of satelite work, but haven\'t done any for quite a while.  I used petit track all the time.  It was very very useful.  I don\'t remember if I had it on the 2.37 or the 3.10 rom, but will set it back up.  Message me if you need help and we\'ll see what we can do.  Your problem with petit track is most likely related to a bad or misplaced coordinate file (at least thats where all of my problems with it were from).
