Wrong Kernel Error
« on: May 19, 2006, 12:27:51 pm »
In this post, lardman reports that a fix for the 'wrong kernel' message was put in the upgrades. Unfortunately, I didn't get the error until after I just upgraded my newly flashed boxer. My sysinit was upgraded from 2.86-r19 to 2.86-r20. There was a message stating that it was not installing sysinit-inittab 2.86-r19 on root' cause it was already installed, but shouldn't that be upgraded too (to r20)?

Any ideas how to fix? thks

NB: server timeouts caused me to post this multiple times. Could the moderator please delete all but this one? thks

I don't see any mention of the post you say I posted...?

Anyway, is the problem that you get the message about the wrong kernel on boot and want to get rid of it? There's a script in /etc/init.d/ that checks the kernel version, rename/remove it and it'll work.

I see the script you mean (checkversion), but it's not so much the error, but the after effects. Now gpe won't start. I'll have to track down what's going on. What kind of details might help? thks

I believe it was 2.4.18, but I had to reflash 'cause I needed my Z for the weekend. I'll upgrade after & see if I can recreate the problem. thks
