Sl5500 Rom
« on: October 26, 2006, 10:08:18 am »
I have recently installed ROMv3 from the USA MyZaurus.com website to update from v2.37 for betterOutlook 2003 sync , but it failed and now will not reboot. Is there a recovery ROM program available and has anyone similar problem with fixes. Thanks

Try looking here:

Clicking "Sharp" takes you here: (Look at 3rd one) Sharp ROM for 5500 v3.13

I have used this 3.13 ROM a few times, and just the other day.  For the first time
(the other day) I also saw a recovery/repair screen come up, saying that the flash
failed, and I was a little worried also.  I tried the flash again, and the same thing
happened.  Unfortunately I do not remember what I did to fix it, I might have run
e2fsck, or I might have just exited out of that shell prompt.  I would first try
just exiting out of that shell, or doing whatever it said to cause an automatic reboot.

In any case, it booted up fine afterwards, so there is hope.  If you are are a newbie
or scared, I would not mind repeating the flash, and getting the details, assuming
it happens again.  The only thing I did that I can possibly think might have caused
this, is I tried the OZ 3.5.4 GPE release that uses altboot, and I was playing around with
installing OZ to an SD card.  I then decided to reflash SHARP 3.13 again.  I am
doing this on my "extra" SL-5500 which has an audio problem on 1 channel, and
I do not use the unit very much, which is why I don't mind trying the reflash if
you want me to.
