Dillo Config - Redirect?
« on: July 01, 2006, 09:50:51 am »
I've been out and about travelling for the week ... and I love bringing the zaurus with me to 'play' hoeveer .. i'm having trouble connecting with public APs. I can assocciate (i get a ip through dhcp ... ethereal will dump full packets from inside the network)....  but when I bring up dillo to browse, Ioften get an error solving DNS.

Strange because yesterday I was on a network labled lightlink, google.com wouldn't work .. butlightlink.com would ... so it seems like they simply have a filter in place and you have to auth before you can get out into the internet. (most public spot do)  I know for a fact that the user pass is user:user for this network ... but dillo won't forward me to the log-in page. . . .   most public hotspots will shoot you to an authorization page, then bind your mac or something.

I tried dillocfg -- and i didn't see anything about allowing redirects. is there anything I can do so I can get connected and maybe use ipkg to install firefox or something. (even tho I hate that it uses so many resources) .. at least it should redirect correctly, and once i'm authorized I can switch over to dillo for regualr browsing.

has anyone else experienced this?

I think they load a cookie on your box to say your have read and agreed there internet policy/agreement....

To the best of my knowledge dillo doesn't save cookies... and if it does they are only saved temporarily...

Download firefox from the beta1 feed... 1 package... no dependancies... just be prepared for the long launch time... but once launched your fine....
