What kernel version and machine?

You could compile my version OpenZaurus bl for pdaX and it would probably work for the 2.4.18 kernel c7x0 machines (depending on the kernel interfaces, and will certainly work for all 2.6.x machines as it uses /sys).

http://people.bath.ac.uk/enpsgp/Zaurus/bl/bl-0.1.tar.gz is the source

and

http://people.bath.ac.uk/enpsgp/Zaurus/bl/bl_0.1.bb

will give you a clue as to how to compile it (one liner, make sure you link in glib-2.0 or similar).

Other than that, I don't know.

For me (2.4 kernel pdaXrom on SL6000):

Code: [Select]
/sbin/setfl X
where X is an integer setting for brightness.

setfl then the # (brightness) you would like

Whew, I agree!  This is a very handy piece of knowledge.   Are there any other
console mode tricks, like perhaps how to suspend (other than just apm -s) which
in the past has given me trouble(s)?  And/or maybe how to change the background
and foreground text colors?  Many thanks in advance for any such tidbits!  John

I cheated on that one - just looked in the python script like InSearchOf suggested...

If you want automatic suspend, I guess you'd need a daemon like apmd. Even laptops/desktops tend to use X/KDE/Gnome applets or daemons to handle this stuff rather than running the console mode daemons. Haven't seen anything like this on pdaXrom.

I think console text colours can be changed by editing /etc/profile - I use Bundabrg's patchlist ipk as described/linked in [a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=14032&hl=patchlist&st=15]this post[/url].
