What's the size of your card?  Is it bigger than 1Gb?  If thats the case you would have to upgrade the drivers for it.

it's a 1 gb SD card.

Also i tried with a mini MMC with adapter ( 256 MB) and nothing.

I have installed the driver for bigger cards, automounter and others. I don´t know what to do.

What do you get when you type

dmesg

from the console?  Make sure to type it in right after you insert the card.

It seems that the sd card have a unrecognized format?? I use storage tools from my PocketPC ( qtek 9090) which can format the sd card in FAT 12, 16 or 32 and also select cluster size.

Try a different card to see if your Zaurus is working with SD cards, or format it as fat16 on a windows box.
Some people here have had luck formatting defunct cards in a camera, then using it in their Zaurus.

Also when you are in fdisk make sure there is not multiple partitions on the card.  Sometimes they come with a lot of partitions out the gate.  Make sure it's only one or two partitions.

Hi.

Thanks for help me.

I know that the card is functionality because is recognized in my Windows, Linux, PocketPC and Palm.

I change to ubuntu and verify that the SD only have one partition, aslo i tried formating to FAT 16 and ext3 on ubuntu and nothing changes. I haven't a SD camera to format it

I have a MMC mobile from my nokia mobile, i have tried with the zaurus with a adapter and demsg says the same.

I'm desperate. I don't know nothing about this but if possible that it would be for the zaurus and not for the SD??

Have you formated and partitioned it through the Z?

I tried to format with the zaurus:

mkfs.vfat -F 16 /dev/mmcda1

and the result is:

unable to open /dev/mmcda1

I've been having similar problems with a 4 GB SD card. The 1 GB is recognised and mounted, and so is a 2 GD mini SD with an SD adaptor. A 2 GD CF also works. All these work fine after I installed the driver provided elsewhere in the forum. However, after 2 weeks of operation, the 4 GB SD wasn't recognised by my Z (C3000). On top of that the data was lost and I had to reformat in in Windoze as FAT32. Z still wasn't able to recognise it. Then I tried to mount it (mount /dev/mmcda /mnt/card). That worked while the Z was on. After I turned it off, the card wasn't mounting. I had to mount it manually...maybe a manual mount might work for you...

this is what I would do...

try doing "fdisk /dev/mmcda" then "p" to print. verify there's only one partition, if not delete all partitions, create one primary one, set to fat 32 type, write the partition, eject the card, reinsert, format with mkfs.vfat.

Wow!

Thanks all for help and especially to speculatrix   . I have do that steps, after I mounted the card manually as John Galt sais, and... my SD card works perfectly!

I don´t know why not worked when I format the SD in my pocket, windows or linux and yes when I did in Z

if the card's partition table is wiped, a windows box will create the file system filling the whole disk (i.e /dev/mmcda and not /dev/mmcda1). You CAN mount it on Z manually, but the automounter stuff (as I understand it) doesn't like the lack of partition.

You create a partitionless filesys on the Z by formatting /dev/mmcda and not /dev/mmcda1, but it just seems to cause problems.
