Another Wifi Cf Card Working Right Out Of The Box
« on: January 25, 2007, 02:59:35 pm »
Ive just got a second hand wifi card for my c760 and has worked just out of the box. In fact, I'm now writing this from the Z. It's a Sony Air Shot card. It was part of a Sony wifi projector. The projector broke and its owner has sold the wifi card to me. The card model appears on the sticker on the card as "IFU-WLC1". It's a 11mbps card and worked without trouble. I've been using it for almost an hour and the battery level has just dropped by 15%, so I guess it's not a very power consuming card. Since I got it for under $30, I guess it's not a bad deal.

BTW, the Z detects the card as "OrigoV2/Senao WLAN CF Card"

See you.

EDIT: I've just found the card is a rebranded model. The exact model is an Ovislink Airlive WL1100CF. It uses a prism 3.0 chipset

The card scared me for the first time when , for no apparent reason, it refused to connect to my router although the light had turned on and it looked good. Then I realized I had just installed the wireless tools v. 0.28 I had downloaded from some site. After uninstalling the package, the card connected again. Anyone knows why did that happen?

did the new wireless tools change any of the config files which tell card manager what the devices are? things like the hostap_cs.conf? that would then prevent your card from being recognised.

when you install the new wireless tools, and then insert the card, what do you see in "tail /var/log/messages" and "dmesg" outputs.
