Tk/tcl Building Woes
« on: February 09, 2007, 07:21:06 am »
Hi,

I've tried to build tk and tcl from the latest source in order to test tk/tcl mode of Zangband, since the packages in the official feeds lack the dev stuff.
I followed the official documentation (http://www.tcl.tk/doc/howto/compile.html)carefully and compiled tk and tcl. Build went through, but in fact quite a number of things don't work when running the tests:

 [ Invalid Attachment ]

As a result I got tons of error related to font and window and blah under tk/tcl mode in my trial build Zangband. I don't think it's just the problem of my tk and tcl builds. The same problems pop up using the packages from the feed.
I suspect the packages in the official feed don't actually work either...

I have absolutely no idea of what's goin on. Could some expert enlighten me here? Help is much appreciated.

might give the packages in OE a try. they should be reasonably compatible to pdaXrom.

Thanks, Mickeyl.

BTW here are my 8.4.14 packages. They are my older builds as I didn't package up any later trials.

Sorry, I meant vice versa. Building tcl/tk in OE and running w/ your pdaXrom installation

Sorry, Micheyl. One dumb question: must I flash OZ in order to use BB?

No, BitBake should be able to produce packages compatible to pdaXrom. Perhaps not out of the box, but with very little tweaking (i.e. pinpoint some versions of packages to be built, so that we don't build too new stuff)
