hmm...
I read somewhere that the release of Windows 2000 had been delayed until first quarter of 1901

Sorry to stay off topic, but this really sounds like "back to the future".

OK , maybe I was wrong about win2000, but there are other examples (officeXXXX, ...)
HP-95LX -> HP Jornada 680 -> SL-C860 -> SL-C3100 -> Fuji u810 -> SL-C1000 -> HTC uni -> SL-C860 -> SL-C760.
March 12 2009 : Back because the Zaurus is one of a kind.
SL-C760 : pdaXrom
Pandora pre-ordered -> received and tested : great device but not my cup of tea -> sold.

Hi Chero,
you may well be right about Win2000, what I wrote was only an old joke aiming the year-2000 problem of some computer software.

Sorry, missed that one.

To get back on topic : make it a real clamshell and people might actually get to like it.
Oh, and by the way, lower the price with 60%.

Chero.

A friend of mine got his HTC Athena a few days back and I went round to have a look at it last night and I was impressed- especially with the screen and its divx/xvid playback which is much better than on my c3100.

However:

NO ESCAPE KEY ON THE KEYBOARD! (DUH! ESC is in the 'Top 5 most important keys on the keyboard' definitely)

If you want to use it as a phone you've got to use a headset

The current version of Windows Mobile (5) doesn't let you record video any higher than QVGA and even that didn't work when we give it a try last night. I think he was too embarrassed to try it again- I didn't push it but I presume video capture does actually work?

It currently runs WM 5 (bleughh!)

I can't believe they missed off the escape key! I suppose it can just be mapped to one of the useless wm app shortcut keys instead.

So, of course, the big question now is Linux support so that we can actually do something useful with this thing. Does anyone know if there is any (planned) support for the ATI Imageon 2282 in xorg? What about its wifi and GPRS chipsets? Have we got any chance of seeing these supported under Linux before the apocalypse?

Don't think there is much use for an ESC key on wince. But for Linux that's a bummer, it's not going to be much fun running vi. Does it have a TAB key? And the '|'?
