A friend of mine got his HTC Athena a few days back and I went round to have a look at it last night and I was impressed- especially with the screen and its divx/xvid playback which is much better than on my c3100.
However:
NO ESCAPE KEY ON THE KEYBOARD! (DUH! ESC is in the 'Top 5 most important keys on the keyboard' definitely)
If you want to use it as a phone you've got to use a headset
The current version of Windows Mobile (5) doesn't let you record video any higher than QVGA and even that didn't work when we give it a try last night. I think he was too embarrassed to try it again- I didn't push it but I presume video capture does actually work?
It currently runs WM 5 (bleughh!)
I can't believe they missed off the escape key! I suppose it can just be mapped to one of the useless wm app shortcut keys instead.
So, of course, the big question now is Linux support so that we can actually do something useful with this thing. Does anyone know if there is any (planned) support for the ATI Imageon 2282 in xorg? What about its wifi and GPRS chipsets? Have we got any chance of seeing these supported under Linux before the apocalypse?
