Inserting Microphone Activates Music Player
« on: February 10, 2004, 11:18:30 pm »
I noticed that inserting a microphone into my SL-C760 causes the Music Player to automatically execute.  Inserting my headphones does not.  That seems backwards.  When I insert my headphones into the SL-C760, the Music Player should activate.  When I insert my microphone into the SL-C760, the Voice Recorder or tkcVox should activate.

If I hold down the stylus on the Music Player and activate the Fast Load option, the Music Player no longer activates when I insert the microphone.  I am using the Sharp 1.20 ROM with a kernel from Tetsu.

Inserting Microphone Activates Music Player

Sharp sells a remote control for the Music Player that plugs into the headphone jack.  My gold-plated microphone that I bought from a guy on eBay who calls his company, \"Giant Squid,\" is apparently making the Zaurus SL-C760 think that I am plugging in the remote control and activating the Music Player.  I got the Voice Recorder application to run when I plug in the microphone now.  Here are the steps on my Sharp ROM-based computer from the Terminal application:

su root
cd /home/QtPalmtop/bin
mv musicplayer musicplayer0
ln -s /usr/QtPalmtop.rom/bin/voicerec musicplayer
cd /home/QtPalmtop/apps/Applications
vi musicplayer.desktop
exit
exit

In editing the musicplayer.desktop file with vi, modify the Exec line to have musicplayer0 as the program that is executed.  Turn off fast loads for the Voice Recorder application by holding down the stylus on the Voice Recorder icon until the Fast Load check box appears, then uncheck the Fast Load box if it is already checked.  Also disable fast loads for the Music Player.  Reboot the computer.
