Dsl Usb Converter Driver
« on: February 04, 2008, 08:50:57 pm »
I am in the process of converting a rather old laptop to a DSL rig.  Unfortunately, it is a compaq from back in the day when they did not make universal card sets, and does not have an ethernet card.  It does have a modem and a USB 1.0 port, though.

My question is if there is any driver support out there for DSL that would apply to something like the Belkin USB 10/100 adapter shown here: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage...oduct_Id=104991 ?

I would think there's a reasonable likelihood that a driver is built-in to DSL. I imagine it uses a standard (Pegasus, DM9601, etc.) chipset and that DSL supports the standard USB-ethernet chipsets.

I can't verify that, though.

If it doesn't, you could look at Puppy Linux.
