Hi!
It'd be very convenient for me to plug my soon-to-come ^^ Gemini to a VGA display.
Someone tested whether a HDMI -> VGA adapter does work with Planet Computer mandatory Gemini -> HDMI display?

We know we can use a standard USB/Ethernet hub, but I haven't found an answer to the above question yet.
EDIT: spelling

I haven't tried this, however the planet usb-c to HDMI cable will output standard HDMI - what you connect it to should not make a difference. An HDMI to VGA adapter should be no different to an HDMI monitor (assuming they support the correct HDMI version). I use a hub/ethernet/card reader all the time, as well as a simple usb-c to usb-a adapter.

That's sweat to hear about, @vader

EDIT: I hope this « HDMI Male to VGA Female Video Adapter Line with Audio Line » from Gearbest will do the trick without too much pain in somewhere. It says
Quote
● Built-in converter chip, hot-swappable
HDMI video input formats: 480i / 576i / 480p / 576p / 720p / 1080i / 1080p
VGA video ouput formats: 480i / 576i / 480p / 576p / 720p / 1080i / 1080p
I've read PC HDMI cable/converter ouputs anything you need as long as it's HDMI 1080p @60 Hz. And this accessory doesn't say if it handles 1080p @60 Hz , so we'll see!

Does this mean that a direct USB-C to VGA adapter does not work with the Gemini? That means, for VGA output, you will have to use a USB-C to HDMI + HDMI to VGA adapter?

I've tested this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MS611LJ/ with mixed success. Older VGA devices that don't support 1080p or 1080i usually don't work. I bought the VGA adapter because a Toshiba TV I sometimes use doesn't respond to Planet's HDMI adapter but also has a VGA input; on that TV the VGA adapter gives good results (except for a 450 millisecond audio delay that I am working with the vendor to try to resolve).

@jdcard The adapter you pointed out prints

> - Supported Resolutions: 1080p/1080i (1920x1080), 1600x1200, 1280x1024, 720p/720i (1280x720), 800x600, 576p/576i (768x576), 480p/480i (640x480)

meaning these cheap adapters tech details may be a damn bit on the *commercial* side :/

Yes you will. See https://www.oesf.org/forum/index.php?showtopic=35160
