GNURoot Setup

I have been having a hard time getting a usable Linux environment setup under any of the tools I usually use under Android such as GNURoot. Anyone else tried this? I'll post notes here as I figure things out.

Right now trying to update GNURoot Wheezyx package to get wine and a DE installed... seems to not have many packages available for some reason.

I just rooted my Gemini and installed Deploy Linux, I am waiting for my new SD card to arrive but until it does, I was wondering if i can somehow just point it at my Linux dual boot partition?  I can't get that to do anything useful because it is too slow in graphical mode and the only terminals are broken in different ways, so it would be nice to be able to utilize that partition for my Linux on Android.

In Linux Deploy create a new Linux install and in the settings you change "installation type" to "partition" and "installation path" to the partition -" /dev/block/mmcblk...". I don't have a Gemini yet so I'm making a guess on the partition path.  Either format that partition and let Linux Deploy install a fresh instance, or just try and use the stock Planet Computer image and configure it accordingly

Yeah so as to the original issue of GNURoot not working too well, installing the Planet computers provided root Android image + Linux Deploy from the app store is definitely the way to go. So far it seems fast enough for me (I have DuraSpeed enabled so maybe that helps?). Glad to have something working. It's quite awesome and a bit weird to see Notepad running on Wine in Debian installed with Linux Deploy on Android on a Gemini PDA.
