So...one of the things that has featured in various bits of publicity for the Gemini is an app that faithfully reproduces the Agenda on the Psion 5mx. This is honestly the best app of its kind I've ever used.

Any sign of the Gemini version anywhere?

I believe some reviewers saw it in the beta state, but I have not seen anything recently.  I think it's likely Planet staff are focused on hardware delivery for the moment; however, I too am anxiously awaiting the Agenda app.  Once I'm able to use that for my to-do list on my Gemini, I can give my poor 5mx a break

Edit: I just had a very silly thought, but I wonder if the old Psion Series 3 emulator runs in Dosbox under Android...

Haha! Psion emulation on a Gemini would be awesome!

There's a really great Android app called ACalendar which is extremely powerful and has lots of different views.

I've used the Psion calendar app before and while I thought it was nice, what are you missing about it?

I would second ACalendar, whose week view is as close as I can find to the Psion Agenda. The price is right and the owner donates a considerable amount of each purchase to help protect natural habitat.

The one stand-out feature of Psion Agenda, which I've never seen since in any other calendar app (but which appears to be in the Planet Computers Gemini Agenda app, judging by the screenshots I've seen), is the year-planner-style Year view.

Here, one year is shown in its entirety, presented as 12 rows with one month per row, showing every day of the month as adjacent cells. The rows are staggered sideways so that the days of the week align correctly in columns. Each cell is big enough to have a coloured spot to indicate one or more calendar events for that day (or a birthday etc.), and multi-day events could be shown by a bar extending across days. (Of course, given its high-res colour display, the Gemini could do this much better than the Psions were able to.)

Anyway, this is the one major feature that I've missed in every single calendar app I've ever used since having the Psion. It's what I'd call a 'year planner' view and it's unbelievably useful. I just cannot understand why no other software has ever implemented this since Psion did it so well and made it clear how extremely useful it is.

The aCalendar app does indeed look quite nice, as yet another pretty standard calendar app… but it doesn't offer the Psion-style year-planner view that I really want. So I'll continue to wait for Planet's Gemini Agenda app and hope it's good.

I come from Windows CE as well as Psion and there was a great app called CE Agenda, a direct port of Psion Agenda. It's available here as exemptionware:

Dunno if it has the year view coveted by Richard Hallas, but there's always been dreamy internet talk of porting Windows CE to Android. Can't imagine that would happen soon or whether it would sync with anything other than itself, but I did get memotoo to sync with my Jornada 720/CE Agenda not too long ago, with middling results.
