Seeing Gemini from my PC

I have the Planet USB C hub. I plugged in a wired ethernet connection, but it doesn't show on the PC network tab.
What do I need to do?

I'm not sure, but I don't think Android has SMB filesharing out of the gate, so you wouldn't be able to mount it as a share.

You might find a third party app to do that, or set up Linux to do it.

For big files, I just mount it as a USB drive (just plug in the USB cable and treat it as a drive).

Android doesn't run samba, you wouldn't see the phone as a "network device".  It is capable of being an smb client however.  What exactly are you trying to accomplish?
Its better if you tell us exactly what you're end game is, then we can help you get there through workflow and/or configuration.

I need to move some music and video files from my PC to the Gemini. I've used the X-pore app as a wifi server, but this is quite slow and I don't want to keep extracting the SD card. I imagined that a rired connection would be faster.

Definitely plug it in and use it as a USB device for that. Connect the cable that came with it to the USB port on your computer, and the USB-C cable to the left side. When the prompt appears on the Gemini, choose “USB Storage”. You should see the Gemini appear as another volume on your PC, like a flash drive.

That’s also faster than even SMB, too!

Aha. Here’s the link I was looking for when I responded. This will show you how to do it:

A cable is the best way for large files, but if you just want to swap *.docs or similar-sized files, Total Commander is a first-rate file manager for file exchanging over a network. TC plays nicely with Windows' shared directories.
