It would help if people could post which version they are upgrading from/to and what configuration their Gemini PDA is in (i.e. single boot, dual boot, root/or_not, default bootloader/or_not)?

That would help others know what to avoid and which configurations might be affected.

Neither of mine are showing any available OTA updates, I am on:

Device 1:
Gemini-7.1-Planet-10052018-V2
Default bootloader / single boot / unrooted

And Device 2:
Gemini-7.1-Planet-30012018-V1
TWRP / dual boot with Sailfish / unrooted

What is the version of Android to avoid?

That is good to have here - the method to fix a device if it gets messed up.

However, what I'm more wondering is:  Is the updating system itself fixed and ready for us who -have not upgraded- to all be able to update our firmware via the OTA updater?

There is no OTA available at this time for any Gemini afaik.  The bad update was definitely pulled.

On the Indiegogo Comments pages recently, Dr. E. stated that only the OTA firmware update is defective and has been pulled down.

Also, he stated the last firmware update download from the PC support page is safe, even though the Android stuff is a bit wonky.

PC is addressing both currently. And it all will be updated presently.

Dr. E. advised that we wait until they've fixed the updates (OTA and via PC support page) which will be announced soon.

So, on that advisement, I choose to wait (as we backers have become accustomed to doing).

Why, pray tell, is it that the latest flashtool firmware update isn't accessible via the firmware page on the Planet Computers website, but only accessible via the link earlier in this thread?

The link takes you to a page that you cannot otherwise access; it isn't part of the visible linked directory structure of the support site!

So, not knowing about this problem, after finally getting my Gemini working again and installing the single boot system with the old firmware, I installed the over the air update; which didn't brick me, except I think that's why it isn't detecting my SIM card.

O, yes, the over the air update was still there, contrary to what is mentioned earlier in this thread.

Now I'm downloading the updated firmware that isn't mentioned on their firmware page, and we'll see if that takes care of my SIM card being detected.

*sigh*

And, yes, I did test the SIM card on my old phone just to make sure it was working, and the SIM card is just fine. And it worked with the Gemini previously.

****

Ah. So the "new" update is not to be used, even that provided by the new link. Which begs the question as to why that link is still listed and good...

Installing the old firmware hasn't taken care of my Gemini now not detecting my SIM card.

Is the mentioned 22 June firmware update another SNAFU-FUBAR mistake to deploy?

It is to me.

Following the support page's fuzzy instructions for that update, the process failed but did turn my device into a silver-grey BRICK doorstop.

Can't restart or power it off.

What now; overnight it to PC?

Removed the SIM and SD card.

Waiting for the battery to drain to zero.

LOL...!

Planet support page via Planet shows the aforementioned 22/6/2018 update.
Yet, the links therein show 12/6/2018 dated items.

I wonder if that update's (latest?) Build number is  - Gemini-7.1-Planet-12062018-V2 [Settings>About phone>Build number]?

Fingers crossed that you see your way through this.
