Using PDF application

I\'ve installed the Xpdf application. On running it all I get is a blank window with no menus etc. Tried \"o\" to open a file and no joy. Please help.

Maximize the program then press \"SHIFT\" + \"o\" key to display the Xpdf: Open dialog window...
