Start up a knsole and run ifconfig -a.  If there is a usb0.  Than run ifconfig usb0 192.168.129.201.  If there is no usb0  Than post the output of ifconfig -a and also please post the output of lsmod.  Both of these moust been done with the Z in the cradel.

laptop under windows 2k or XP

anyway, i\'ve tried an unstable version of openzaurus and in the network configuration panel there\'s an USB TCP/IP connection type that doesn\'t exist on my Zynergy ROM nor on the original Sharp ROM...

If I remeber right you need to install the usb network dirver for w2k.  And also whan you put you Z in the cradel start up a shell and run ifconfig usb0 (or usbd0) 192.168.129.201.  Under w2k gointo the network config and find the local are connection for the zaurus it shoule be something like local area connection 2 or something simeler dupending on how many networks you have.  Under thar change the ip addrees so that it is 192.168.129.1.  Try pinging the zaurus.  If this don\'t work let me know.

You coulde use a proxy.  I few years ago a used one called freepoxy (I think).  Just do a search on download.com.  I don\'t recall howto config it, but I do remember that is was easy to set up and use.

P.S.  Have I helped you at all or did I just make things worse.

ok i can use a proxy on the laptop, but that doesn\'t tell me how to setup the current network connection ON THE Z as an USB connection (you can configure only dial-up, wireless or lan connections  )
so far, i haven\'t made that much progress but i thnak you for your answers!

If you can ping your Z and if ifconfig shows usb0 or usbd0.  Than you\'r usb networking works.  But if you want a app that shows usb try downloading opie-networking form:
http://ipkgfind.handhelds.org/result.phtml...wsing=1&format=

Or you can also try seting up a lan connecteon.  Since usb0 or usbd0 is a local area network device.
