Rom Update going badly
« on: May 17, 2004, 05:20:56 am »
Today is not my day.

I updated ROM as usual and something went wrong.
My trusted zaurus is not working. Only displays black screen with SHARP.

I think OS is gone completely..

Is there any way that I could reinstall OS?

Thanks in advance

You should search in the forums for \"bricked\" zaurus ... the method consist in reflashing your zaurus with a NAND backup using a special menu ... btw I dont want to give you bad instructions while the good ones have allready been posted
SL-C3000 - pdaXrom 1.1.0Beta1
SL-C860 - pdaXrom 1.1.0 RC8 (charging circuitry dead :( )
CF RamStar 512 Mb / Hitachi 4Gb microdrive (thanks to creative's muvo² :p)
SD Sandisk 1Gb / Viking 256 Mb
Linksys WCF13 CF wifi card

Anyone willing to donate for my work, please consider donate to pdaXrom and/or OE/OZ projects instead, I wouldn't have been able to do anything without them ...

You should specify which Zaurus you own. As you see some people with the big zauri thinking about nand restores. If you have 5500 or 5000 you could try to reflash by using a compact flash card. There are a lot of installation guides. For example you find an installationguide at the Openzaurus site. In the case of sharprom is then the same procedere as openzaurus, just by using a file named ospack instead (on your sharp cd) of the two files zImage and init.rd in the case of openzaurus.
Cheers,

I had problems reflashing my 5500, and in the end reformating the CF did it. I spent ages downloading roms suspecting that my first attempt had got corrupted, only to find it was the CF itself. Also, when formatted by my mac as msdos FAT format it didn\'t work, but it did from a Windows PC as FAT.

Good Luck
