GPS?
« on: July 08, 2004, 05:41:20 am »
I have an SL-5000d and i want to use GPS on it. I did this with my ipaq when i had one and it got stolen. since then i've bought the Z and i'm interested in GPS.

To start out with, what card should i get? i'm on a average budget so no $350 cards. I can get a stand-alone gps for $99.

What software should be running, i remember reading a thing about a guy using GPS on his SL-5500 but he had to hand-start a bunch of other stuff (if i remember) and i dont want to do that. Its not convientant for me to waste all kinds of time starting the GPS as it would be for my conveinance not my stress.

So, whos using GPS on their Z?

I use Hicom HI303-MMF card.
Many CF GPS receivers are "serial cards". They appear just like a common serial port of your PDA.
So GPS cards work in general.
What kind of maps are you going to use? What ROM do you have on your zaurus?

If you use qpegps, then you can get maps out of autoroute use them.

You have to save the maps as bitmaps and also record the gps co-ordinates for the end points so that they can then be entered into qpegps.
