Shortcut to hyperlink
« on: August 12, 2004, 01:13:02 pm »
Is there a way to create a shortcut to a hyperlink or document so that it opens in the default application. For example, I have some local html docs that I would like instant access to. Sure, I can add them to favorites in Opera, but i would like to know if it is possible to just create an icon for them and place it on my tab-list. The only thing I can think of is creating a new icon to opera's executable with the page I want passed as a parameter. Any other ideas?

You could always access them from the Documents tab (depending on your ROM of course), or as you say make dedicated icons. However, you can't pass parameters inside the .desktop files so you'd have to call a script (in which you can pass the filename as a parameter to opera, etc.)

Yeah, I found out (the hard way of course  ) that you can't pass params to the executable. The script is a good tip though. I will definitely give it a try.

Thanks!
