Why is the font partially messed up when rotated?
« on: September 05, 2004, 09:29:35 pm »
I created a qpf font from arialuni.ttf as well as the rotated version, which is used when the display is flipped. Symlinked the lcfont to the new arialunicode font.

It uses the 20 point size for displaying the titles of the programs in the tab manager.

Everything is fine, however when I flip the display, the font becomes partially corrupt, i.e. parts of the characters have strange lines.

This is what it looks in landscape, for instance:

and this is what you see when you flip it:

which is strange, because when I use the font to write in Word for example in flipped mode, everything is fine, i.e. no corruption, i.e. the newly generated font can't be messed up?

Is it maybe because it's trying to use the bold version of the characters?

Later.

I have further info, it must be something with the symlink, though I need someone to help me with what it is.

I have the rotated 200 point arialuni font on an SD. The arialuni and lcfont fonts are both symlinked to it, i.e. identical symlink.

Yet when I rotate the screen and write in Word, selecting the arialuni as the font, the font shows up OK, selecting the lcfont, which points to the same thing, the font shows up messed up. What's the thing with this?

I don't know an answer to your question, but can I ask how you generated your fonts, including the rotated version ?

thanks
