With all the recent discussion about the end of devnet forum and Sharp pulling the SL6000 out of the market and all the associated despair, I was wondering how the situation was in Japan.
I was actually in Japan last month attending a small conference and I saw a handful of people with C-series Zaurus. It was the only PDAs I saw, in fact. I also saw them for sale at several stores and even bought one. But I didn't really have time or the opportunity to see the big picture.
So, if anybody has knowledge about the state of the Zaurus in Japan, here are my questions:
1. How are sales of the Zaurus?
2. How is the development community? Opensource? Commercial? Sharp support?
3. Is there an equivalent of the ZUG? Bigger? Smaller?
4. Not many people from Japan here, why? Language barrier? Nothing interesting?
