Help : Troubles With Nand Restore After Pdaxrom

Hi everybody,

I have troubles to go back to standard Japanese rom with the NAND restore procedure (D+M menu) after flashing with pdaXrom RC8.
Here is what i did :
- pdaXrom RC8 sucessfully installed on my C700 with 45M for root partition
- i played a little with this rom but decided to go back to Japanese sharp rom
- i put SYSTC700.DBK (from conics.net) file on a CF 256M flash card
- power on with D+M, choose NAND restore menu and while restoring something like that appeared : "format error"...What to do now

Can someone help me, my poor Zaurus is now like dead

Hi mister psir who joined the zaurususergroup on 28-December 04 (like a few other) and created a kind of FUD thread about flashing pdaXrom.

If you can't get back to the D+M menu and nothing happen when you try to wake up your Zaurus then send it back for repare.

Note that your D+M NAND restore issue is not related to pdaXrom.
Note also that the best thing to do is to try to flash the NAND backup again without rebooting or switching off your device.

=> Yeah if nothing happens it's really bad ! But if leds are still flashing there's a chance to rebuild D+M menu. One year ago I lost D+M menu - due to an electricity short cut - but i successfully put menu again with a special procedure...

I know that pdaXrom is good, i have tested all versions for one year but some basic things are much better in Sharp Rom that's why I decided to restore Japanese rom.

So, i'll try your advice : makea NAND backup first and then a restore...

And sorry if I post the question in a wrong thread ?

No need to do a NAND backup if you already downloaded the good one from the net (as you said in the first post). Just to reflash.

NAND restore doesn't care about what is already on your NAND. It does a raw flashing of the wall flash memory. If you got errors, it's because of bad flash area.


Importante note: don't try the format menu or similar menu options. They will erase and completely brick your Zaurus. You have been warned.
