Looking For Advice!
« on: February 02, 2005, 10:38:28 pm »
Hello all, I am looking for anyone willing to offer any advice on my SL-6000.  I just bought the device and I am totally stumped as far as what I can do with this piece.  Its certainly a sweet tool but the people at sharps tech support are useless.  Anyone willing to help a guy out?

So far I am using the default Sharp ROM. I use mine for:

Storing contact info in Address Book
Calendar for reminding me of appointments
Surfing the web with Opera & built-in wifi
Word processing with HancomWord
Spreadsheet with HancomSheet
Drawing and dodling with the built in Imaging software (File >> New)
Also QpPhoto, FreeNoteQt, and VisualQ are nice
Watching movies with Kino2
Can listen to mp3's on Media Player or Kino2
Can record voice messages (though I don't use that often)
Read pdf books with qpdf2
Manage files with Tree!ExplorerQT
Edit config files with ZEditor

I just bought a Pocketop IRDA keyboard (use with Cwaig's irk driver) off eBay for thirty-something dollars, and use a usb mouse (use Yakty's newest inputhelper ipk) with the iRiver USB adapter.

Search the threads for these subjects as they are covered in great depth here at oesf.org

Some extra advise: Attack one thing at a time!

Maybe you could look at it the other way?

decide what you want to do, then find out how to do it on the Z?

What I use the Z for:

(*) Syncing (via FTP) and transferring files between work and home.
(*) Viewing some of these files (Excel, HTML, and PDF.)
(*) On-the-go editing of a to do list (I use Zedit for my to do list frankly, I'm a sucker for text editors  and this one is nice, definitely my most used program)
(*) On-the-go calculator and contact list.
(*) Remote Internet access; also Internet access at home when I don't want to turn on my behemoth PC, when I want to browse while watching TV, etc.
(*) Storing addresses
(*) Portable calculator
(*) Portable game device
(*) As a device to learn Python on
