Application Installation Problems
« on: March 31, 2005, 03:19:45 pm »
After my long post yesterday in the Sharp ROMs forum, I tried several of the roms mentioned (Sharp, OZ, Cacko, Hybrid) and settled on trying Cacko.

At the moment, I have only Cacko's feed set up on my Zaurus. I am starting to install software, but am running into problems. For instance, I installed the kde suite of PIM apps. When I click OM/Pi, or KP/Pi, I get the little flame around the icon and an hourglass in the taskbar. The hourglass stays for a few seconds then disappears. I had the same problem with Opie-Reader. In this case, I copied the .ipk down to the Zaurus and did an ipkg install.  Is this just a case of badly behaved apps?

The other thing is that in the package manager, I can go in and select the app and tell it to install. However, when it pops up a target window, both CF card and SD card are greyed out. The CF slot has a wireless CF card, so I can understand that, but I have a properly formatted and mounted 512MB SD card in the slot. How can I mount apps to the SD card?

Thanks,

Try running said applications from the command line to see what errors they produce.
