Original ROM backup
« on: January 30, 2004, 09:52:46 pm »
Hi, I just received my C860 from Dynamism with English converted ROM, unfortunatelly it is not 100% english, so I would like to test TheKompany, OpenZauris, or Cakco ROMs, nonetheless I would like to save or backup to Flash ( SD/CF ) the original ROM first, in order to be able to go back, please somebody can give me some hints how to do it ?, thanks

Original ROM backup

check out this how-to.  technically it\'s for doing a nand restore, but it\'s just as easy to to a nand backup.... on step 5, instead of selecting #10 (NAND restore) select #1 (NAND backup)

just make sure you have a CF or SD that is greater than 128mb... as the nand file itself is just larger than 128mb.  Also, it seems that the CF is more reliable than SD to do the backups/restores.

good luck!

PS... you can always email dynamism and ask them to email you a backup file for the 860... they did that for me with my 760 (I forgot to backup right away)
