Recommended Wired and Wireless CF cards?

I have decided to purchase a Zaurus 860 from Conics (primarily for the reasonable price), and would like the groups recommendation on a wired and wireless CF ethernet cards to use with PDAXROM 1.0. I\'m taking the Zaurus immediately on a business trip, so I have only about two weeks to obtain the cards and get them running. I\'m looking for:

1) ease of use with PDAXROM 1.0
2) power economy, especially for the wireless card
3) small proturberance from Zaurus housing.
4) reasonable cost, obviously.

Conics has the following:
(Wireless) Corega WLCFL-11 ($75)
Buffalo WLI2-CF-S11G ($75)
Planex GW-CF11H ($75)
(Wired) Planex CF-10T ($38.50)
Corega CG-CFTD ($25)

Another vendor I trust (newegg.com) has three units from major vendors
D-Link Air 2.4GHz Wireless CompactFlash Ethernet Adapter, DCF-660W ($62.00)
LINKSYS Wireless CF Interface Ethernet Adapter, WCF12 ($63.99)
Trendware/Trendnet CompactFlash 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet Adapter, TE-CF100 ($30.99)

I\'m interested in the TE-CF100 because of the 100Mbps speed and low cost.

Anyone with experience with these or other adapters who\'d like to weigh in, I\'d be most appreciative. I\'m going to play my Zaurus order as soon as I know whether I\'m getting accessories from the same vendor. Thanks!

I have a Linksys WCF12 with my C750, and it work out of the box with the old pdaXrom (Haven\'t tried 1.0 yet, but I\'m about to do so tonight). I haven\'t had any problems with it.

Question: is the buffalo cf card patch now part of pdaxrom 1.0, or do you still need the patch .ipk? Thanks.

A: Install the pcmcia-fix_1.0_armv5tel.ipk file and reboot the zaurus or run /etc/rc.d/init.d/pcmcia restart

I ended up getting the trendnet wired and wireless ethernet cards (links above). They should be here with the 860 next week. If anyone has any \'good to know\' info about using either one with pdaxrom1.0, such as chipset names, please share. Thanks.

The buffalo card still requires the patch .ipk in pdaxrom 1.0.0.

I am using the Linksys CF Wireless WCF12 card with the PDAXROM v1.0 on a SL-760 and it works perfectly.   My only complaint is the card drains my SL-760 too quick for my taste.  Maybe someone else can recommend a Low Power, Sharp friendly, Wireless LAN CF card.  BTW, Cacko/Sashz and everyone else great job on the ROM!

I can confirm that the trendnet wireless card is a prism2 chipset, it detects and works without additional setup besides your ssid/key settings.

I\'m having some problems with the card locking up the GUI at random points, and releasing the block when removed from the unit. but I\'ll start a separate thread for that.

I\'m running pdaXrom v.1.0 on a C700(first run of the product) and I have the opposite results with this card.  There\'s no wlan_ng support or any other prism2 support that I\'ve been able to find.

Whenever I insert the card I get a message stating that the card is unsupported via the xcardinfo app.  Obviously with the number of success stories here... I must be doing something wrong??

Can anyone help?

Ah, actually, I was able to get it working by using the hostap_cs instructions from another post.  All set now!

Also, it\'s still not pretty.  I have to use the following command to initialize the card:

1.  make sure nothing is in the CF slot of your C700
2.  from a shell type \'cardctl insert\'
3.  now insert the card and it will detect and connect as per your
     network settings.

I don\'t know enough about how this works to know why this is necessary
unfortunately.

I\'ve got the Socket LP WLAN Card, and had the usual problems with getting it working, but now everything is perfect.  Slot in the card while powered up, and it connects.  Power up with card in (or added) and it connects.

What I did:  
1 - install pdaXrom 1.0.0.  
2 - \"touch /etc/pcmcia/spectrum.opts\".  
Done.

The cardmgr keeps looking for this file.  Failing to find it, it looks for wlng2wt.opts in the same place.  Failing that, it doesn\'t connect.   Once I created that file (even empty) it works smoothly.

Note that there are 2 models of the Socket Wifi card. The old one works with the spectrum drivers, but the newer models don\'t work out of the box. These are based on the Agere chipset.

Hi,

I have a socket low power WIFI card dated 2002, FCCID H9PLA4137P...

Would this be the "old one"?  With pdaXrom and the sharp ROM it will
connect, but get flaky after a few minutes.  I notice that an ssh session
into the Z will stop responsing if left idle for a few minutes.

I have no troubles with my Linksys WCF12 and have been using that,
but since I have 2 SL-5500 devices, I would like to figure out how to get
the socket one to work solidly.  

Any advice is appreciated!
