Sd Card / Compact Flash Adaptor
« on: November 18, 2005, 05:03:24 am »
Hello all

Having lots of fun with my new 760 (well new to me).

quick question , at the moment pretty much every toy I have uses SD cards and I am not that keen on investing in a big CF card, I was wondering if anyone has used a CF adaptor to allow them to use SD cards in the CF slot

http://www.imaging-resource.com/NEWS/1052753685.htmlv

or

ebay item 7563745142  (damn thier URL's are long)

they seem to be available in CF I and CF II flavours

Anyone tried them

Cheers

John

I got one of those 4-in-1 CF adaptors which allows you to stick various other cards in as well.
turned out to be a bit bulky, but if you are looking for a SD only one, then it's pretty small. Go for the CF II type rather than the CF I if you get a choice because the Z's slot is CF II. If you stick a CF I in it will still work, but there is this small gape left where dust and stuff can get in. better get a snug fitting CF II to cover it up.

Thanks for that just
Just needed confirmation that the slot was happy with adapters, the one i am looking at the sd card goes inside the shell of the cf card so it can be used with CF doors closed on cameras etc so the size should not be a problem   .

Cheers

Hey,

I use an Archos 4 in 1 CF adapter pn CAXX5N13N.  It works great for just about everything except it won't work for the new xd format cards.  Unfortunately it's the worst of both wworlds as it is only as wide as a CF1 device but has a HUGE MONGO plastic top that literally extends two inches beyond the CF Bay.

But it was inexpensive (off of ebay) at the time and no more often than I actually use it, it works just fine.  For your purposes I would NOT recommend it on any basis unless you simply want iron clad compatibilty.  It's also one of the few CF adapters that still accepts Smart Media cards.

Hope this helps,
