Do I Have To Format My Sd Card Ext2?
« on: October 25, 2005, 12:46:10 pm »
I installed 3.5.3 OZ/Opie on my 5500, and am pretty impressed with it.  I have a wireless card in my CF socket, and a 1GB card in SD.  I installed the 64-0 build.  When I try to install software to the card it gives me (sometimes/usually) an error about linking.

The next question is if I do, what are the reprocussions?  I won't be able to write to the SD card from a windows box, right?  Will I be able to from a linux/mac box?

Thanks for your help.
Chris

Yes, your card needs to be ext2 so that symlinks can be created. You could make two partitions and make one ext2 and one vfat if you need windows access.

There are various software solutions on Windows, which enable you to access ext2 file systems...
Zaurus C-3100 from PriceJapan with OZ 3.5.4.1. Opie and GPE
Ambicom CF WL1100C Wifi Card and Symbol Wireless Networker CF Wifi Card
1 GB Sandisk Ultra II SD
PdAir leather case - Nintendo DS metal case
various smaller CF and SD cards
all kinds of USB cables and accessories

Do I Have To Format My Sd Card Ext2?

Hi all,

I have the same configuration as descripted above and my SD Card is formated as ext2. But I still experience the linking problem. Any ideas how to avoid them completely?

I am using OZ 3.5.3 on 5500G.

Kind regards,
Chris

Some errors are normal due to the way ipkg-link performs the linking.

Do the apps in question actually work?
