network card worked, then didn\'t

i bought the trendnet te-cf100 card, plugged it into the my 5600, then into my router, and was able to connect to the \'net (via road runner cable modem) instantly. the next day, i connected it directly to the cable modem (that is, no router), and it worked. later on i tried again to plug it into the router, but no dice. at first it would \"initialize\" and \"connect\" fine, but no \'net access (that is, the router would assign an ip address, but i couldn\'t connect as before). now it hangs at \"initializing\" and won\'t connect. the card is still recognized. obviously i broke something at some point, i just don\'t know where exactly to look. i\'m a n00b when it comes to linux networking, but i am comfortable with editing config files or whatever else needs to be done.

could you let me know when you find out the answer?  i\'ve been having the same problem where it hangs on \'initializing\' but i can\'t figure it out

well, so far we\'re not too lucky here :-)
i have managed to get it past the initializing phase - it connects, but i can\'t get \'net access.
did yours ever work?

Did you try disconnectiong both the modem and router, on the modem first and then the router,. Try that

aye mine used to work.. then it randomly stops, and now it just stops on the \'initiliazing\' part

Well, my card works again. I didn\'t do anything to the Z, although I did replace the cat5 cables on my router and cable modem. Maybe that did it, I don\'t know.

hehe did you put the card in while it was pluged into the net as while its not bad for it the z wont do dhcp(get a net adress) unless you unplug the cable then re plug it

What\'s probably going on is that the cable modem assigns an IP address and ties it to a MAC address.  If you disconnect the device and reconnect differently, before power cycling the cable modem, you won\'t get a connection.
