Reasonable Root Partition Size?

The installation instructions for OZ recommended a 100MB root partion, so I created a 128MB one as it seemed more even. Naturally I want to put more apps from that excelent oz feed on my z.
#1 abiword = OK
#2 thunderbird = no space left on drive

Should I just create a larger root partition and re-install? (and how do I resize the partions on the active root?) Or can I direct ipkg to install to another location, e.g. /usr/local which could be put on the /home partition (rest of microdrive-128MB swap)?

I made a 1.5gig root, 2.5gig /home, and the rest of the space swap (just around 100meg).  For me it works out good.
