Pdaxrom Beta 4 Wifi And Packages Installation
« on: June 13, 2006, 08:24:28 am »
Hi,

I'm a zaurus new user, so I really need your help.

I installed pdaxrom beta 4 on my SL -C1000 and it works very well.

But for my job I need to install a spreadsheet program to work on my excel files.

My problem is that I can't connect my Z to internet w/ wi-fi whereas I was able to with the last beta3.

Does someone have a step by step solution to install gnumeric or stuff like that?

thanks fo helping me

PS: sorry for my bad english, I did not stay enough time in the US to improve it that much ;-)

The Network Applet in beta4 is pretty buggin...

But the typical info we need when someone is having a issue with wifi access is to pull and then re-insert then do a

Code: [Select]
# dmesg

In the terminal... lets us know what that says...

the tail end of that will give you all the info pretaining to the wifi card initilizing...

Let us know what that says then we will go from there...

If you have configured the feed properly (edit /etc/ipkg.conf) then when you install Gnumeric its dependencies should automatically be installed as well. If for some reason Gnumeric doesn't work then start it from the command line and note what error messages you get, if it's missing some dependencies the error messages will tell which ones.

NB: In future please start separate for different subjects/topics. Asking 2 completely unrelated questions in a single thread leads to confusion and mess.

Yes we need a new set of configuration tool, especially because python tools begin to be very slowly.
I was thinking about gpe-config utilities faster and PDA designed.
But the only thing is that i don' t know anything about 2.6 Zaurus kernel setting files.
Like suspend, clock etc.
For configuration i using the basical tools, like hwclock and iwconfig.
Iwconfig worked perfectly for me.
[a href=\"https://www.oesf.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=19683&view=findpost&p=129449]Here[/url] 's a fast explanation and a script for Wireless configuration, hope this helps.
I' ll try to port the gpe-config for PdaXrom. It could be a good solution.
BYEZ!

This is how i like to live! :)[/span]
