Port Request: Adventure Game Studio
« on: July 05, 2006, 12:36:22 pm »
As soon as pdaX gets more and more impressive, it would be very nice to port terribly beautiful and powerful game machine, known as AGS (Adventure Game Studio). Many and many remakes of old classical games, especially Sierra ones (KQ1/2/3, QFG4.5 etc) have been done by it. Its home page is www.bigbluecup.com and its author is Chris Jones. He doesn't give AGS source even to developers (Linux PC binary does exist, though), but since sashz wisely compiled pdaX for x86 systems also, developers' team could contact Jones and ask him to download pdaX CD and do a cross-compiling of AGS for ARM. It wouldn't take such a terrible amount of time and work, and all pdaX community will be able to play wonderful games and, in distant future, even edit or write them (Jones supposed to work on Linux game editor).

The only technical problem to me seems limited performance of Z (Jones notes it about Palms/CEs). But as soon as AGS DOS ports (made by DJ Delorie) work fast enough on P100+, and Windows 2000/XP requires Pentium II-400, it should work on Zs, at least on those with PXA270 and especially with overclocking. Maybe without MIDI Music, but with ALSA even this should be working with decent speed.

If this idea is to liking of any of the pdaX community guys and especially developers, let's do it. It will be very valueable add-on pack for pdaX!
