QPose on 5600?
« on: March 02, 2004, 08:39:03 pm »
Anyone out there gotten QPose (http://www.climov.com/zaurus/qpose/) running on the SL-5600?

I installed Climov\'s .ipk\'s, created and enabled a 32M swap file on my SD card, and loaded a Palm m505 ROM.  I watched (from an SSH session on my PC) as over 20M rolled out to swap, then finally the QPose boot screen appeared on my device.  The emulator ran very slowly (at least a second between tapping a button and the button flashing in acknowledgement), and after a few basic tasks (setting the time zone, etc.)  I gave up and shut QPose down.

After shutting QPose down, and with swap still enabled, I got a message \"RAM very low: please reboot.\"  I obliged, and as QTopia shut down, the screen filled briefly with \"INIT PANIC: Segmentation fault!\"  After restarting, the device locked up at the \"Sharp (Please wait 2 minutes)\" screen, and the LCD started washing out from the lower right corner--something really overheating internally, I suppose.   I hit reset and left the device to cool off for about 30 min, after which it booted up fine, although I haven\'t had the courage to try QPose again.

Has anyone out there tried QPose on the 5600?  Anyone with similarly worrisome results?  Or anyone who knows how to obtain better ones?

Also, Darien Kruss\' QPose tutorial (http://zaurus.kruss.com/software_sharp.php#10) alludes to byteswapping the rom (which the Z\'s implementation of dd won\'t do) into little-endian format; has anyone tried this?  Will QPose handle it correctly?  If so, does it make QPose any faster or less memory-hungry?
