Networking through USB on tkcRom
« on: March 03, 2004, 07:50:45 pm »
I have my SL-5500 flashed with the tkcRom 1.0 final. I can ssh into the Zaurus from my machine, but I have been unable to properly set the gateway and DNS servers on the zaurus so that I can install packages from the feed.

Anyone know how I can properly set up the DNS server and gateway etc on the Zaurus with the tkcRom?

When you set up usb networking, what you end up with is a 2-node private lan.  In order to get the Zaurus to talk to the outside world, set it\'s gateway address to 192.168.129.1 (your PC\'s ip on the usb net), and enable NAT on your PC (or Internet Connection sharing on Windows).  Then if you can point dns to your normal dns server, and it should work.

I know what I have to do - I had this working in the OpenZaurus rom, what I\'m wondering is how I can do this in the tkcRom - the networking settings app doesn\'t seem to have the ability - and I can\'t write to the resolv.conf file - as it is on the ROM.

The PC (well mac) configuration is already done and working - I just don\'t know how to make the appropriate changes on the Zaurus.
