« on: January 14, 2007, 01:25:47 pm »
not heavy bug but little curious:
it seems scim is back even with "scim=false" in pdaxii13.conf...
perhaps after resuming...

Pdaxii13 5.2 Beta

I figured that rather than start a bunch of threads, we could keep the bug reports in one. I can't seem to get streaming going. I had it working in beta3, but now no joy. I installed streamtuner and streamripper from the hemocom feed. Streamripper required libcurl, so I installed curl from the default repository. Streamtuner seems to run fine. By default, it calls mplayer for m3u's and pls's. Mplayer runs (in two xvt windows, maybe need to remove the rxvt from the default streamtuner command line) and caches the site, plays for about a second and then exits. I tried vlc and gmplayer instead. vlc had the same behavior as mplayer. Gmplayer wouldn't play it. I closed streamtuner, opened FF and surfed to the icecast directory. I clicked on an ogg station and selected vlc as my helper app and it also player for a second and then hung.

I had streamtuner working great with mplayer under beta3. Am I missing a required library or something? Does mplayer (or vlc) generate a log somewhere that might tell what is happening?

SCIM willl always be enabled by default. The SCIM=false just prevents SCIM to be loaded automatically when X is starting, however, as soon as you load a SCIM capable application (which are almost all of them), then SCIM will be loaded. This is caused by the im plugin listed in /etc/gtk-2.0/gtk.immodules
You will need to remove im-scim.so if you want to prevent SCIM from loading at all.
My advice would be, if you use SCIM, then just continue to do so. If you don't want/need SCIM, just uninstall all the SCIM packages and save yourself some space .

okkkayyy ! thanks for the explanation

another thing i've with all pdaxii13 : the resume time seems to be longer when you have a cf (wifi or bluetooth, not memory) attached to the cf port ! without card it's about 4s; with a card inserted it is about 8s and more if you've open windows...with the defaut sharp rom it was even quicker.. is it a general pdaxrom issue?
