Displaying A Java Applet
« on: May 02, 2007, 08:52:45 am »
Hi,

I have installed jamvm, classpaths, firefox, perl and the gcj java plugin which works with firefox. I also have gcjappletviewer available as part of the plugin. I have tried some test applets and they seem to load, but the functionality does not seem correct.

My question is how do I display a java applet on a http server without using the overhead of firefox. I would ideally like to be able to pass the appletview the address of the html page, which just has the applet on it, or even just the applet itself. How would I go about doing this? Can I run jamvm directly to display an applet window?

Please excuse my ignorance of java, i haven't done very much with it.

thanks,
omega.

have got it going using gcjappletviewer but unfortunately the applet which is "Cimplicity Web viewer" can't find it's own files?! It works in IE / Firefox on my PC...
