It's my understanding that SDHC is a hardware and software upgrade. The Zaurus doesn't have the hardware upgrade, so it's a show stopper.

4GB sdhc cards seem to work fine with the linux-rp 2.6.20 kernel

Very interesting, Koen. Thanks.
That seems to turn this communities conclusions on it's head.
Do the OE team have to do anything in particular to get the SDHC cards to work?

Does this mean that when 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB cards come out, that we can use them:
There is already an 8 GB SDHC card available.

excellent--- an 8 gig sdhc on the 6k would keep it in the game for a long time to come

AFAIK the only diffrence between SD and SDHC is they bumy the bus freq up to 50Mhz, i dont belive there are any other protocol changes, can anyone clarify this?

i remeber backwards gompatibility bieng a big thing for the SD people and i bet the cards still work in 1 bit mode or SPI mode (ie MMC mode) however the biggest problem with consumer devices is not the SDHC itself but the move from FAT16 to FAT32, i know of several cameras that dont like anything other than FAT16

There are multiple changes, which is why they are called SDHC cards instead of SD cards, so they don't have to pretend to be compatible.

any news on SDHC in Angstrom? I figure that might be the first zaurus distro to have it.
