Pdaxrom Dev Team Update
« on: August 19, 2007, 07:10:32 pm »
Just making an overdue announcement

1. Well since I didnt make any type of formal announcement about the New devs, I will do so now...
The current list of dev's actively working on pdaXrom
Sashz
Laze
InSearchOf
Meanie
KKazakov13
Louigi600
Anunakin

2. pdaXrom.org is undergoing a few changes, all in the background as of now, but testing out other Web CMS apps, trying to find one to suit our needs. So look out for pdaxrom.org v2.0

3. pdaXrom svn has been split up into 3 different branches,
pdaxrom-stable
        -Obvious
pdaxrom-dev
-Will be where all development will be made and committed to. If you want the unstable latest, then this is where you can build from
pdaxrom-latest
-the middle grade of the above too, Once a dev package is working it will get put into latest, prior to being put into stable.

Well, I'm going to get back to the family life, thanks for continuing to support pdaXrom!

Good bunch--though many of us secretly believe that Sashz has been abducted and you are keeping his name on the rolls and showing an animatronic to confuse the public  - a sort of devteam weekend at bernie's
Glad to see a sane arrangement , though i suppose this means I should donate soon.

I don't use either, but by reputation Drupal and Mamba should do anything and everything you might need
**3100 Zubuntu Jaunty,(working on Cacko dualboot), 16G A-Data internal CF, 4G SD, Ambicom WL-1100C Cf, linksys usb ethernet,  BelkinF8T020 BT card, Belkin F8U1500-E Ir kbd, mini targus usb mouse, rechargeble AC/DC powered USB hub, psp cables and battery extenders.

**6000l  Tetsuized Sharprom, installed on internal flash only 1G sd, 2G cf

Well we are currently using drupal... and I did test Mambo, but I removed it, but I may look at trying it again, the admin interface is  "pretty" but it seemed very complicated.

First of all, it's really good to hear that there is still something going on behind the scenes of pdaXrom. I thought for quite some time that the project was as good as dead. Apparently I'm still used to the fact that Sashz worked fulltime on this for so long, surprising us every once in a while with some great version upgrades.

No offense, but the updates are sooo scarse these days. I have really no idea what progress is made in the last few months, let alone what can be expected in the coming months. The idea of the 197/198 releases is good, but there's so much missing. Don't get me wrong, your hard work is much appreciated, but it would be nice if the project was more transpanent in a way that we all can see where this is all heading.

Can you please give me/us an idea of the changes currently being made in pdaxrom-dev? Is it only kernel related, or are all pdaXii13 fixes and SP's also being committed.

I guess that the pdaxrom-stable is based on the 2.4.x kernel?

Well currently the MAIN on going projects are Kernel updates and patches and also Xfree to Xorg migration.

This is another thing that we are looking to implement into pdaxrom.org v2 is a project tracking module. Currently dont know exactly how much traffic makes it to pdaxrom.org but I'm hoping that implementing the "proposed changes" will bring more traffic around.

and yes, most if not all pdaXii changes have been brought into pdaxrom and will be incorporated in the next offical build.

pdaXrom-stable currently consists of all current fixes up until the split of the branches.

I already have uboot scheme that will work, well should, I can't give you an exact date when it will be put into production but Meanie, in most cases, will be fronting that project.

Thanks for the update.  From other posts around here, I am aware that work is ongoing, but it's nice to hear a "status update" occasionally.

I'm sure I speak for everyone when I state that I really appreciate all the effort that you guys put into this.  I'm looking forward to a stable 2.6 release, but right now, I don't have the time to play around with alpha releases when pdaXii13 is so stable for me.

I was really disheartened when it seemed that the Zaurus line was dead and I expected interest in pdaXrom to quickly wane.  But I still see people working on both a new kernel version and still fixing and upgrading the 2.4 kernel... that's great to see and it's unpaid volunteers who keep pushing it forward.  My hat's off to you guys!
