Textmaker - hw arrows
« on: June 21, 2018, 01:29:41 pm »
I have installed full version of Softmaker and Planmaker (both HD and Mobile). When I for example write 12345 and the cursor is between 1 and 2 and then press right arrow, the cursor jumps between 3 and 4, not 2 and 3. It is similar in Planmaker, when it skips columns. It happens even Microsoft folding keyboard. In any other app (OfficeSuite Pro, Aquamail etc.) it is working properly. When I use software keyboard (Swiftkeyboard) everything is fine. Also PgDn works great in Textmaker HD/Mobile. When I connect Microsoft folding keyboard to my Samsung Galaxy S9+, Textmaker works OK. Any help would be appretiated.

I can't help you yet, but I can confirm what you're seeing. I use my finger to put cursor in proper place but obviously would rather use the arrow keys.

Another glitch is in a single-spaced doc, the up and down arrows skip a line. I wonder what's going on.

It's not a bug, it's a feature! It doubles as a text-editor and a game (try to get to the right line and letter with the arrow-keys...)!!

No, I don't think that, and it seems strange (as do the "original" problem mentioned in this thread). I was thinking of trying out the TextMaker apps, but kind of NEED the cursor-placement to work with arrow keys (which is one of the most important "features" of a hardware-keyboard IMO...). Which version are you using? There are a few possibilities it seems...

I'm using TextMaker HD, the premium version with all the bells and whistles. TextMaker Mobile is free and I don't have that installed, so can't verify if Mobile has similar issue. I have an ancient QuickOffice installed (before they were bought out by Google) and I don't have the issue there.

I'll post the problem in the SoftMaker forum on Monday, but I doubt they have a Gemini to verify or fix software.

I got a response at last, and SoftMaker said there is no solution.

That's a drag, but the HD app works so well in other aspects (especially with Granular Immersion Mode) that I will suffer through.

I used to use Softmaker Office, but the latest versions of MS Word, Excel & Powerpoint are way better now (and free). No issues with the Gemini cursor keys either!

Thanks for the tip. I hadn't paid attention to MS Word Mobile since its previous versions were pretty terrible. But you are right: Word has its act together.

One thing that's a drag: the need to "upgrade" the doc. I use MS Word 97 on all my machines so having to switch back and forth b/w .doc and .docx would be a pain.

Is there any workaround to that, saving in .doc form? TextMaker has always been generous with its file converting options.
