Gemini (First batch) aroma
« on: April 30, 2018, 10:05:49 am »
When my Gemini is open, I've noticed quite a strong aroma - somewhere between plastic and chemical. Quite similar to the smell of a firelighter. Possibly from the layer beneath the keys.

I've had lots of gadgets over the years - this is a stronger smell that I've ever noticed before.

If you have a Gemini, do you notice the same?

OK, thanks all. Not sure what to make of it - I hope it's nothing toxic... Am going to leave the clamshell open during the night for a couple of weeks to see if the smell dissipates over time.

Hopefully, it is not a bad electronic component....and smell will clear out after a while....

May be just rosin based flux residue from the wave solder process on the PCB, or solvents used to clean the metal formed casing when it was separately manufactured. My guess it's the same overwhelming smell you get when you enter any electronics production place.
