Strange touch screen behavior with 5600 + special kernal 1.3
« on: April 22, 2004, 08:25:44 pm »
Didn\'t see this talked about anywhere else so here goes.

I am experiencing odd behavior with the touch screen not hitting where I tap it.  It will sometimes hit exactly where I tap it and other times hit up to 1/2 cm away from where I tap it.  I have tried recalibrating it several times but it still acts the same.  It only does this when I use the special kernal.  The sharp kernal doesn\'t do this.  It makes browsing the web a little frustrating.

So is this what having the cache erata fix turned off do?  Just make the touch screen a little inaccurate?

and yes, do have a pxa 250 in my 5600.

so any of you 5600 owners out there notice something like this when using this special kernel?

I\'m running the same and have not had any problems with the accuracy at all.

Are you sure you downloaded the correct kernel? The first special kernel had problems with the touchscreen, but that was due to a patch that only seems to work ok on the Cxxx Zaurii.

Make sure you have actually downloaded this kernel:

Thanks so much!  That fixed the problem.  I thought I originally downloaded the latest one, I guess not.  By the way, why is the file name zImage_Special5600_No_Preemptive_No_Overclock-c860ROMv1.10.bin and not v1.3?

It\'s based on the 860ROM v1.10 kernel. There was also kernel based off the original 5600 kernel source, but the overclock patch couldn\'t be applied to that without some work so that got dropped (The No_Overclock in the above filename means no overclocking by default, but the capability is still there).
